‘90s Umbro jersey = peak football gear. Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be.

Back then, Nike was just getting started in football, and Umbro took a cheeky dig at the US sportswear giant: “We didn’t get good at making football boots by making basketball shoes.” It ran under an Umbro ad, and the punchline was so good I still remember it 30 years later. Maybe too good — Nike took it personally, eventually acquired Umbro, and slowly dissolved the brand.

Anyway, I’m getting sentimental…so here’s a perfect piece of football history: a classic pre-Nike Umbro jersey, 8 on the back. However to be honest, this one is a bit boring, one of the newer designs (you can tell by the logo) with COOP on the front, long sleeves are always a plus.
